Privacy Notice

Last updated: October 25, 2026

This notice explains what personal information we collect when you visit truweli.com, buy from us or email us, what we do with it, and the choices you have. We keep it as short and plain as we can.

Who we are

Mark Pearson, trading as Truweli (a sole trader), is the “controller” of your personal information. That means we decide how it’s used and we’re responsible for looking after it.

86a Briardale, Consett, County Durham, DH8 7BD, United Kingdom. Email: hello@truweli.com

Because we’re based in the UK, we follow the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

  • Order details: what you bought, when, the price, and your order number.
  • Contact details: your name, email address and, if you give it, your phone number.
  • Shipping details: your shipping address, and your billing address if different.
  • Payment information: payments are processed securely by Stripe (through WooPayments) and PayPal. Depending on your device and order, you can pay by card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, Klarna or Afterpay. We can see that you’ve paid, plus limited details (such as the payment method type), but we don’t see or store your full card number.
  • Messages: anything you send us by email, including your email address and any attachments.
  • Reviews: if you leave a product review, the name, email address and review you submit.
  • Account details: if you create an account, your login details and order history.
  • Website and security logs: technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the date and time. Our hosting and security tools record this to keep the site running and protect it from attacks.
  • Cookies: small files that make the site work, like remembering your cart. See our Cookie Policy.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

What we do Legal basis
Take your order, get it printed, ship it, and handle returns, refunds and questions about it Contract: we need it to do what you’ve asked
Keep order and payment records for tax and accounting Legal obligation
Reply to your emails Legitimate interests (answering you), or contract if it’s about an order
Keep the website secure, prevent fraud and fix problems Legitimate interests (running a safe shop)
Marketing emails, if we ever send them Consent: only if you say yes, and you can change your mind at any time

Optional website analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics through Site Kit to understand visits and improve the shop. Google processes information such as pages viewed, interactions, traffic sources, approximate location, and browser and device information. Analytics uses cookie identifiers to distinguish visitors and sessions. We use consent as the basis for this optional measurement. You can reject optional cookies or change your choice using the Consent Preferences button. Withdrawing consent stops future optional tracking; it does not undo processing already carried out.

Google processes analytics information on our behalf, potentially outside the UK. See Google’s Privacy Policy and our Cookie Policy for more information.

Marketing emails

We won’t send you marketing emails unless you’ve opted in. Emailing us or placing an order won’t add you to a mailing list.

Who we share it with

We only share what each service needs to do its job. We don’t sell your personal information.

  • Stripe (through WooPayments by WooCommerce) and PayPal: our payment processors. They process your payment securely, including Apple Pay, Google Pay and Amazon Pay where offered, and run fraud checks. If you choose Klarna or Afterpay at checkout, they receive your order and contact details to run their own checks.
  • Sift: a fraud-prevention service used by WooPayments on the cart and checkout to help spot fraudulent payments.
  • hCaptcha: used by Stripe at checkout to check that a real person is paying.
  • Printify, Printful and TeeLaunch: our print partners. They print and ship your order from print facilities in the USA, so your name, shipping address and order details go to the US to make and ship your order. (Printify makes our tees, sweatshirts and hoodies, Printful our blankets and Christmas ornaments, and TeeLaunch our mugs.)
  • WooCommerce and WordPress, hosted by IONOS: the software that runs our shop and the company that hosts it.
  • IONOS: our email provider, used to send and receive email.
  • Wordfence: website security and protection against attacks.
  • Delivery carriers: used by our print partners to deliver your package.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.

International transfers

We’re in the UK, and some of the services above are based in, or store data in, the United States, including our print partners, which need your address to ship your order. When your information goes outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the UK–US “data bridge” for certified US companies, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or the safeguards each provider offers. Transfers needed to fulfill your order may also rely on being necessary for our contract with you. You can email us for more detail.

How long we keep it

  • Order and payment records: about 6 years, because UK tax rules require us to keep business records for that long, then deleted.
  • Emails: for as long as we need to deal with your question, and longer only if it relates to an order or a legal claim.
  • Account details: until you ask us to close your account, subject to the order records above.
  • Website and security logs: for a limited period set by our hosting and security providers.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy
  • correct information that’s wrong
  • delete your information
  • limit how we use it
  • object to how we use it, including any use based on legitimate interests
  • move your information to another organization, where the law allows
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it

Email hello@truweli.com. We may need to check it’s really you. We’ll reply within one month, unless the law allows us more time. Sometimes we have to keep information to meet a legal duty (for example, tax records); if so, we’ll tell you.

How to complain

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve used your information, please email hello@truweli.com first so we can try to put it right. We usually reply within 24 hours.

You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

For US residents

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Depending on the state you live in, you may have rights to know what we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it or to delete it. To use any of these rights, email hello@truweli.com. We won’t treat you differently for using your rights.

Children

Our shop isn’t aimed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children.

We’ll update this notice when the way we use personal information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
