One black ink, a heavy serif CAMPING and a dictionary entry make this tote bag look like an old campground store souvenir. The synonyms get less romantic as they go, and the final one, in bold, is a sleeping pad that was full of air at 10 p.m. Under the words, a dome tent and a quilted pad flopped over a log. Souvenir look, real complaint.

Campground regulars who carry the s'mores supplies, the bug spray and the spare batteries will put this to work. It suits a birthday, a camp host thank-you or a trip planner's gift. Marshmallows in, air out. The grass tufts are the only thing in the drawing that slept well.

Details

  • Art: A black-only vintage screenprint: a heavy slab-serif CAMPING headline, a dictionary entry with the last two lines in bold, and underneath a dome tent, a cut log and a quilted sleeping pad slumped over it in tufts of grass.
  • Text on the art: CAMPING / (camp·ing) [noun] / Synonyms: fresh air, starry skies, campfire stories, the long walk to the outhouse, a sleeping pad that was full of air at 10 p.m. (last two lines in heavier bold)
  • Tote: an everyday tote bag for groceries, work or the market. The print is black ink only.
