A birding coffee mug with the whole story: "I watched it for ten minutes. It was a leaf." Binoculars up, breath held, ten long minutes on one small shape in a branch. The setup sits on one side and the punchline on the other, so turning the mug gives you setup, then reveal. Bold flat letters in green, orange, purple and teal ask the question, and big red-orange ones answer it. Not a warbler.

Robins, chickadees, bird pairs on branches, binoculars and nests with eggs are tucked in around the words, along with plenty of leaves. For backyard birders, bird club regulars and anyone who has logged a sighting a little too early. A fun pick for a birthday, a retirement or the first spring walk of the year. Coffee first, then the feeder. The leaf never made anyone's life list.
